Supply Zone
Supply Zone are the procurement division of Devon County Council, supplying Council offices and education establishments with numerous products from stationery items, to office furniture, to sports equipment for schools. After outgrowing the capabilities of their existing system, they investigated a number of packages but soon established that implementing a 50-user version of Access Dimensions would help them to streamline the method in the way they handled Order Processing and Stock Control.
Now fully operational, Supply Zone have implemented a new eCommerce website as part of the Governments eProcurement initiative. With this in mind they needed to apply integration with their Access Dimensions System to make best use of the online catalogue and eliminate manual intervention.
The next stage of implementation for Supply Zone is information on demand. Soft-Works (UK) Limited are now implementing Access Executive Desktop and Alerts. By introducing this facility, managers, supervisors and relevant staff will be automatically alerted on subjects they need to be informed about as they actually happen - for example, being informed when an order has been placed, when stock levels fall below their minimum and when a customer has been put on stop. In addition to this, they will have the ability to examine data in the form of interactive reporting via their own Desktop.
Mike Stansbury, IT Manager of Supply Zone (procurement division of DCC) stated: “By introducing the Access Dimensions system we have streamlined our processes and now handle all Stock Control, Purchase Ordering and Financials through the one system. We have also implemented a new eCommerce website, as part of the Governments eProcurement initiative, including integration with the Access Dimensions system making best use of our online catalogue and to eliminate manual intervention”.
