Sparkworld wholesale has a distribution arm covering half the country and two large retail sites in the South West. The wholesale arm distributes new, end-of-line and manufacturers graded appliances on a regular weekly drop with their own vehicles.
Sparkworld deal directly with most major manufacturers and normally hold a stock of £1.2 million in its warehouse in Devon. They pride themselves in giving good product advice with a no-nonsense approach. If you can see the product in store, then you can take it away, they have no hang-ups about selling the display item so the customer can have what they want.
Recognising a need to update their trade counter and back-office systems, Soft-Works (UK) Limited were asked to establish the best way forward for them. By using the knowledge that Soft-Works had of the Access Dimensions system and their experience of providing solutions to similar businesses, they worked closely with their software developer and Sparkworld to provide a tailored solution. This included a bespoke front-end to the Sales Order Processing Entry screen to offer postcode look-up functionality, enhancements to the Quick Customer Entry screen and recording the method of delivery, payment type, etc. After consultation and gaining a good understanding of their requirements, the back-office processes were configured to offer exactly what Sparkworld required to assist them in creating a faster and more efficient solution.

One Year on...
“The Access Dimensions system has been running for a year now and we are absolutely delighted with how it is going,” said Marian. “Our system is so fast that although we have a database of more than 10,000 customers we can call up an individual customer’s details in seconds".
“We also have an up-to-the-minute record of our stock so when a customer or one of our retailers wants something we can source it quickly. That helps us with our philosophy that customers can see it, buy it, and take it away.”
